Inspired by the homeowner's love of scuba diving, the intention for the piece was to explore the view one has from deep in the ocean. AFS Mosaics worked with the way light travels through the watery depths- and how it changes as a scuba diver moves in the water. Colorful, hand cut glass represents the corals, creatures and seaweeds found on the ocean floor. The uppermost panel in this installation conveys the way the ocean blues take over the scuba diver's view as they move to the surface. Tiny "bubbles" of moonstone and white abalone mimic the sunlight as it penetrates the surface of the ocean water.
